AUS VS NZ: 2nd Test, Day 1 – Balanced Day For Both The Teams

Australia vs New Zealand ongoing Test match

Day 1 Stumps

It was a good day for both the teams. New Zealand right-arm fast-medium bowler Colin de Grandhomme picked 2 wickets and bowled well. Trent Boult showed his class once again by picking the wicket of Burns in his first over itself. Left-arm Neil Wagner picked the wicket of dangerous Australian opener David Warner (41).

The Australian team will be happy as their main player Steve Smith (77*) got his good form on the first day itself. Labuschagne (63) and Warner put on a good partnership of 60 runs to move the scoreboard of Aussies, even they lost Burns for a duck.

After the wicket of Warner, the score was 61/2. Steve Smith then was involved in crucial partnerships with Marnus Labuschagne and Wade to lead the team to a score of 257 with the loss of four wickets.

Good Day for Steve Smith

After not being in good form for 4 consecutive innings, finally, Smith showed his batting class and revived hopes of the Australian team. Partnership with Labuschagne made him comfortable at the crease and helped him to play his natural game.

Steve Smith, who came back to the Australian Team after a 1-year ban, played some good shots and showed his consistency in the red-ball cricket.

Smith also grabbed the world No.1 test batsmen ranking in November and mid-December. But after losing his form, he could not hit at least a half-century in one of his past four innings. Today, he showed his class batting once again in good nick in the Test match.

New Zealand bowlers used the new ball well and picked the first wicket in very first over. Pacers showed their strength and troubled Aussies batsman. After drinks, New Zealand bowlers picked only one wicket and couldn’t continue their dominance as well settled batsman Smith dominated the bowlers.
