Michael Vaughan was up and ready for the banter on Twitter as he knew that he had put his shoe in his mouth, thanks to India’s famous win. Vaughan had predicted that India without Virat Kohli will go down 0-4 against a rampaging Australian side at home. Owing to India getting bowled out for 36 in the 2nd innings at Adelaide, it felt as if Vaughan’s prediction made a lot of cricketing sense. But this Indian unit had a different plan. The Men in Blue not just got the better of the Australians in their own backyard, they also registered their first win at Gabba, marking Australia’s first loss at Brisbane in 33 years.
Told you all India would lose 4-0
If they lost in Adelaide … 😜😜😜— Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) January 19, 2021
Vaughan was well aware of the fact that he will be facing backlash on Twitter post-India’s gargantuan win. The former English skipper Michael Vaughan wasted no time in trolling himself after India beat Australia by three wickets on Tuesday at Gabba, Brisbane. Vaughan had earlier predicted that India will be rolled over by the Aussies 4-0 in the four-match Test series, especially the scars left out by the Adelaide horror show. Now, that the series has ended with a 2-1 India win, Vaughan is facing backlash on Twitter. Many users have commented that now the England team will be routed 4-0 when they visit India for a 5-match Test Series.
I seem to getting a lot of tweets from #India !!! 😜

This is not the first time when Vaughan’s prediction has gone wrong. It is good to see him still have the sarcasm in him after the brutal backlash on social space. Rishabh Pant stole the show with an unbeaten 89 as India beat Australia to retain the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India lost at Adelaide, then came back to level the series at MCG. The tourists staged a great escape at Sydney with many of their batters bruised, but they didn’t give up. They saved the best for the last. The final frontier came at Gabba – in a riveting game – a depleted Indian side breached 32-year old unconquered fortress Gabba.

The Indian team has proven many of its naysayers and detractors wrong with its exemplary brand of cricket. They have played the game hard and fair to win the coveted Border-Gavaskar trophy. This series win has proved to everyone that you can never rule anyone.
