AUS vs IND: Anand Mahindra Gifts THAR SUV To 6 Indian Players

Team India achieved the pinnacle of success when they breached fortress Gabba by defeating Australia in the 4th Test. The Indian team created unprecedented history by defeating Aussies down under in the four-match Test series by a margin of 2-1. It was India’s second consecutive series win in Australia and that makes this feat even more special. The fact that India were without their 9 major frontline players and Aussies fielded their first-choice squad, makes this achievement memorable.

This India seemed to be a different beast altogether as youngsters like Washington Sundar and Rishabh Pant among others stepped up when needed to script history. Mohammad Siraj who made his Test debut in the 2nd Test, went on to spearhead the pace attack come 4th Test. Shubman Gill, another debutant impressed one and all with his game awareness and stylish batsmanship. T. Natarajan delivered on the promise by grabbing 3 wickets in his debut innings in the 4th Test. Shardul Thakur was not to be left far behind as he overcame a disastrous debut in 2018 when he walked out injured after bowling 10 deliveries. Thakur picked up 7 wickets, scored a crucial half-century to set up India’s win in the final Test. While Washington Sundar looked like a man who had played 50 Tests when he walked into bat for India at the crucial juncture.

India were completely written off by everyone when they were bowled out for 36 in the 2nd innings at Adelaide. But India came back in roaring style notching up victories in Melbourne and Sydney to win the series 2-1. This stupendous feat was lauded by everyone including the honourable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The BCCI announced a monetary reward of INR 5 crores to the entire Indian team.

Businessman, Anand Mahindra, took to Twitter to honour 6 Indian players with his company’s grand offering, THAR SUV. He added that the gift is to inspire the younger generation to take up challenges and believe they can overcome them. He was quoted saying, “Six young men made their debuts in the recent historic series #INDvAUS (Shardul’s 1 earlier appearance was short-lived due to injury)They’ve made it possible for future generations of youth in India to dream & Explore the Impossible. Theirs are true ‘Rise’ stories; overcoming daunting odds in the pursuit of excellence. They serve as an inspiration in all arenas of life.”

Anand Mahindra went on to add that, “It gives me great personal pleasure to gift each of these debutants an All New THAR SUV on my own account—at no expense to the company. The reason for this gift is to exhort young people to believe in themselves & ‘Take the road less traveled.’ Bravo Mohammed, Shardul, Shubman, Natarajan, Navdeep & Washington! I now plead with @Mahindra_Auto to get them their THARS on priority.”
