PCB and BCCI are at variance over this year Asia Cup
The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic is totally destroyed the sports schedule. Still, there are questions over the happening of the Asia Cup. But the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is very much confident about the Asia Cup in the September October window. Originally, Pakistan is the host of the tournament but because of the large cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan, the PCB let Sri Lanka host the tournament.
Wasim Khan, the CEO of PCB declared on Tuesday that the Asia Cup will continue as per the plan in Sri Lanka. And in case Sri Lanka doesn’t organize the event, then UAE is fully ready to host the event. Pakistan team is set to leave for England on 28th June and after their return in the month of September, Asia Cup can be taken place.
Wasim Khan quoted “The Asia Cup will continue as per the plan. On 2nd September, the Pakistan team will return from England. After that, the event can happen in September –October window. In this meantime, some other things will be cleared. We are pretty much sure about the Asia Cup as Sri Lanka has not that much Coronavirus cases. And in case they refuse the event, then UAE is fully ready.”
Now, BCCI and PCB are at rival mode regarding the Asia Cup as BCCI is hoping for the September-October window to host Indian Premier League (IPL) if the T20 World Cup is getting postponed. BCCI is also saying that if the T20 World Cup is not happening then there is no point to play Asia Cup.
