Arun Dhumal: Chinese Sponsorship In IPL Helps Indian Economy

The BCCI gets Rs 440 crore per year from Vivo:

On Friday, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhamal said that BCCI is re-evaluating its sponsorship policy with Vivo for the next cycle but he has also confirmed that there are no plans to conclude its involvement with the IPL title sponsor, Vivo. The sponsorship exists because the Chinese company, Vivo is helping the Indian Economy.

After the border war between India and China at the Galwan valley, the anti-China responses are running very high all over India. In this fight, nearly 20 Indian soldiers are martyred. Since then, there is a call to boycott Chinese products throughout the country.

But according to Dhumal, Vivo is sponsoring the Indian event like IPL to serve interests of his country.

As per the source, the BCCI received nearly Rs. 440 Crore per year from the Chinese company Vivo and the deal is for five years, which concludes in the year 2022.

Dhumal said to PTI “When you think emotionally, you have to left the rationale behind. We have to comprehend the actual difference between supporting a Chinese organization for a Chinese cause or getting help from a company of China to support India’s cause.”

Another mobile phone brand, Oppo was sponsoring the cricket team of India until the month of September when Byju replaced the Chinese company.

Dhumal said he is supporting that we should reduce our dependencies on Chinese products but as long as the companies of China are receiving permission to do business in India, there should be no objection to sponsor India’s big event like IPL.

“If the company Vivo is not supporting IPL, they will take back their money to China. If that money is utilized here, we should feel happy about it. It will be useful for the government also as we are supporting the government by paying taxes on it.”

“It is very clear that the BCCI is not providing money to China, it is doing just the opposite. We should decide rationally not emotionally,” he added.
