Delhi Capitals had assembled a solid unit before heading into this IPL. They seem to have had all the bases covered be it top-order batting which had the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, (a dependable Rahane as backup), and Shreyas Iyer.
While their middle order was bolstered with the addition of Shimron Hetymer and Marcus Stoinis to add to the explosiveness of Rishabh Pant. They had quality spinners in their ranks with Ravichandran Ashwin strengthening the squad along with Axar Patel and Amit Mishra.
Their pace battery is easily one of the best in the tournament with Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada lighting up the IPL with their sheer pace.
All seemed to be going well for the Delhi Capitals heading into the business end of the tournament when slowly their wheels have started to come off the engine.
It started with the injury to Pant, which changed the team combination and their middling performance started to show. They went on to rest Anrich Nortje in one of the games and it proved to be a big mistake.
The fans expect them to return to their absolute best as they try to aim for the final push towards glory, only time would tell if their below-par performance at this stage of the tournament would have an impact on their journey this year.
