Andrew Tye Suprised How IPL Franchises Spending So Much Amidst COVID-19 Crisis

The Aussie paceman, Andrew Tye, who was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1 crore in IPL 2021 Auction, did not play a single match in this year’s IPL. Andrew Tye returned to Australia midway citing ‘personal reasons, amid a surge in the Coronavirus crisis.

Tye was concerned about how are the IPL franchises spending such an insane amount of money on cricket at a time when their country is facing an unprecedented health crisis.

“Looking at it from an Indian point of view, how are these companies and franchises spending so much money, and the government, on the IPL when there are people not being able to get accepted into hospital?” said Tye.

“If sport can continue and be one of those avenues to relieve stress or give a glimmer of hope that the world is OK and there is light at the end of the tunnel, I think it should go ahead,” Tye was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au “But I know that’s not everyone’s feelings and I completely respect everyone’s views from all angles.” Tye added.

Andrew Tye Reveals Situation In Perth One Of The Main Reason To Pull Out Of The Tournament

Tye revealed that increasing hotel quarantine cases is one of the main reasons why he decided to pull out of the tournament coming out of India, back home in his hometown.

“There was a number of reasons, but the main one was with the situation that has started to happen back home in Perth with a lot of cases in hotel quarantine coming out of India,” Tye told ‘SEN radio’ from Doha on Monday. “Now there’s been a community case in Perth governments are trying to restrict numbers coming back in, especially Western Australia.”

In India, 192311 people lost their lives with the number of confirmed active cases at 795627. Now After Andrew Tye is back home, Rajasthan Royals have lost the 3 most important overseas players from the team. Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were already out of the IPL. Sanju Samson and co. will have hard times further in the tournament without these players. Rajasthan Royals won 2 matches out of 5 in the tournament and will face Mumbai Indians on Thursday.
