At ICC assembly meet, an India Pakistan clash building up:
An India Vs Pakistan competition seems to be occurring at the ICC as the governing body takes one further step and two backward steps to take place the process of election.
An ICC section member, included by candidates in their environment and the PCB advises that the new chairperson of ICC should be elected based upon the 2/3rd majority while maximum board members like England, India, and Australia prefer to hold election process through a simple majority.
On Monday (10-08-2020), the board meeting of ICC come to a decision, which has taken place through teleconference. However, for another time, there was no result.
According to sources, in the ICC, there are 17 votes. A 2/3rd of the majority votes to elect the new chairperson of ICC will need 12 votes whereas, in a simple majority process, any person who will get nine votes will win. The ICC governing body divided by 11 members including England, India, South Africa, Australia, and seven other members on one side and interim ICC chairman Imran Khwaja, Indira Nooyi, the independent ICC director, PCB, and three associated members on the other side.
Clearly, it is showing that this is an India Vs Pakistan competition in the ICC. Now it is the call of BCCI to take the right decision.
As per the sources, the ICC has no such agenda to process the election. In such kind of circumstance, the ICC will have to pass a decision and that can happen through a simple majority, which is included in the constitution of ICC. So, the ICC can solve this issue if they want.
