Ajinkya Rahane Keen To Make ODI Comeback

Rahane Has Scored 2962 Runs From 90 Matches At An Average Of 35.26:

Ajinkya Rahane may be one of the mainstays of India ‘s Test War, but he played ODI for the last time more than two years ago. Rahane scored 2962 runs out of 90 matches with an average of 35.26, of which 843 came from batting No. 4 in 27 matches with an average of 36.65. His numbers as ODI Opener are even better with 1937 runs out of 54 matches, including three centuries.

However, Rahane was dropped from India’s ODI setup after India’s series against South Africa in 2018. Two years later, Rahane is ready to go back to the Indian team, and the batsman doesn’t worry about which place to battle.

“I’m ready to battle any place in ODI cricket, whether it’s opening or No. 4 or whatever, I ‘m ready. My instinct says yes, I want to make a comeback in ODI cricket, “Rahane told former Indian wicket-keeper Deep Dasgupta to the leading sports website. “But we don’t know when the opportunity comes. Mind you, I’m planning to play all the formats. It’s all about being optimistic about yourself and your skills.

In 2014, Rahane emerged as a huge makeshift opener for India in the absence of a wounded Rohit Sharma. That year, he scored a few critical half-century goals in the Asia Cup and a fantastic century against England in Edgbaston. Against Australia in 2017, Rahane scored four half-century points in a row, followed by a 79 against South Africa in the first ODI of the six-game series, but just three low scores later. Even when India was badly in need of a Batsman No. 4 ahead of the World Cup, Rahane was overlooked.

“I enjoyed opening the innings, but I don’t mind beating at number 4 if I’m asked to do that. I enjoyed both roles, “Rahane said. “It’s really hard to suddenly open the innings and adapt to it when you’ve been fighting No. 4 for a while, which I did. It’s hard to tell which place I prefer. In both of them, I can do well.
