“When We Travel Overseas No One Thinks About Us”- Rohit Sharma

During India’s series-levelling 317 runs win over England, the nature of the wicket which assisted spinners from Day One, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, became a topic of  Rohit Sharma discussion. Former England skipper Michael Vaughan called it ‘a a shocker’.

England captain Joe Root, however, gave credit to the Indian team at the end of the Test match. “I think credit has to go to India, they outplayed us in all departments. We have to learn from this and find ways to score in these conditions and bowl six balls to one better,” Root said.

The Chepauk team has rolled out a strip that is favored to spinners with turn and bounce. In essence, batting is challenging no doubt, but it is far from being unplayable. This can be judged by how Rohit Sharma batted to make a sublime 161 and Ravichandran Ashwin playing a 100-run knock on the same pitch.

Rohit Sharma Stated That Pitches Are the Same For Both The Side and Home Team Always Plays On Their Advantage

India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma had some words in regards to the pitch and people who criticised it. Rohit Sharma stated that when the Indian team travels abroad, there are not many who thinks about them. So, the Indian team also has the right to put together the pitch how it desires.

When we travel overseas no one thinks about us, so why should we think about them? The ICC should do one thing- they should remove the home and away a concept and make a rule that the pitches should be of a certain manner. We never complain about the pitches that are dished out to us when we play overseas,” said Rohit Sharma in a virtual press conference.

Rohit Sharma mentioned that the pitch was the same for either side and he doesn’t see a reason why there is a lot of fuss about it. He added that the pitches in India have at all times behaved in the identical method for years collectively, and each facet on this planet plays by their strengths in residence circumstances.

“The pitch is the same for both teams. So I don’t know why there’s so much talk about the pitch. People say that the pitch shouldn’t be a certain type of way, but they have been like this in India for years. Every team plays to their strengths at home, and similarly, we do what our team prefers in India,” concluded Sharma.
