Abu Dhabi Waivers Pave Way For IPL Schedule Release

BCCI and ECB have received waivers from the Abu Dhabi government:

The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have received waivers from the government of Abu Dhabi, finding the way for the IPL schedule release.

Mirror has discussed to the officials of ECB and has been informed that the Abu Dhabi government, which has seen a sudden surge in COVID cases has agreed to make an exception for the Indian Premier League, including somewhat relaxation in the 14 days of quarantine requirement period.

The schedule of IPL may come in the next couple of days if the BCCI doesn’t want to wait for any next developments in the CSK franchise.

ECB Statement to Mirror:

An ECB official told Mirror “We have got all required permissions for the games of IPL in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. The squads can travel and they have to stay in the quarantine period. Undoubtedly, those individuals coming from outside may need to go quarantine but those individuals who are already there, no need to get worried about the travel.”

COVID and CSK:

The official members of IPL whom the franchises have discussed informed that the final dates have not been released yet due to the COVID cases in the CSK team. The official members of BCCI are understood to be considering whether the first match of CSK should be deferred by 7 days.

According to the norms and regulations of IPL, the champions and runner-up teams of last year should be playing against each other in the first match of the league. In the original schedule, which was previously set to begin on 29th March in India, Mumbai Indians were to face CSK in the opening match.

The CSK officials have said that they are all set to play the opening match.  KS Viswanathan, the CEO of CSK said “That is the decision of BCCI. In our squad, the COVID cases in our teams are almost among the social-media handlers.“
