The Indian captain has scored an enormous 21,901 runs with an average rate of 56.15 in his 416 matches across all formats. Currently, Virat Kohli has earned the eighth position among the batsmen who have maximum runs in all formats.

There is no doubt that Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar tops the list by having 34, 357 runs with an average of 48.52 in 664 international games.

Kohli has to go a long way to go beyond Sachin Tendulkar.  He is close to his upper top listing player, i.e. former West Indies skipper Brian Lara, who scored 22,358 runs. Kohli needs only 458 runs to surpass the legend of West Indies and acquire the seventh position.

Maximum centuries across formats

The interesting fact is that the Indian captain’s 416 international games is the lowest among the abovementioned list. From this, we can guess how frequent Kohli has achieved the top listing level.

Virat has already overcome the 100-run mark 70 times across all formats and now he is behind the former Australia captain Ricky Ponting (71) and Sachin Tendulkar (100).

Virat Kohli only needs two more centuries to conquer the second spot. But need a lot of time to surpass Tendulkar in this list.

But for now, Kohli need much time to overcome Tendulkar, whose record is 13,780 runs in international foreign matches. He needs 205 runs to pin down renowned South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who scored 9,625 runs. By surpassing him Kohli will acquire fifth position in the list.

Apart from Tendulkar and Kallis, Rahul Dravid (11,765), Sangakkara (10,780) and Ricky Ponting (10,632) are other players who present in the list.

He wants 269 more runs to pin down former Australia skipper Allan Border’s total records of 9,811 runs. After adding 457 runs, he can be the sixth batsman, who scores 10,000 international runs at home.

Now, Virat is behind Sachin Tendulkar (42) and Ricky Ponting (36) in the list of making maximum centuries at home.
