1: Steve Smith giving Jaydev Unadkat the 19th over
Rajasthan Royals had no business losing the game against RCB after bossing the game for almost about 38 overs. They had the match on the mat when RCB required 35 to win off the last 2.
In a moment of pure brain fade, Steve Smith handed over the ball to Jaydev Unadkat rather than giving to Jofra Archer, who may have well killed the match in 19th over itself.
2: MS Dhoni repeatedly persisting with Kedar Jadhav
It has been a difficult tournament this year for one of the greatest franchises (CSK) in tournament history. But few of the decisions which they have taken during the course of this competition have been baffling, to say the least.
The idea to send Kedar Jadhav ahead of Bravo in a run chase against KKR belied logic and Dhoni’s repeated persistence with Jadhav raised many eyebrows.
3: KXIP’s decision to not send Mayank Agarwal in the super over
Mayank Agarwal had almost seen Punjab through against Delhi Capitals in their first game but got out just at the brink post which his team couldn’t cross over the line and the game went on for a super over.
While everyone thought that Agarwal would come back to participate in the super over, his absence didn’t justify the explanation of him being tired and add to their woes, Punjab lost that match.
4: RR opening with Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes, unarguably is the best all-rounder currently. But is he a fabulous opener? No, not by a stretch. When RR has an opener like Jos Buttler who can change the game on his day why not make him open.
They are rather hell-bent on making their most expensive player start the game, who unfortunately is not able to come to terms with opening and pacing the innings.
5: RCB holding back ABD against KXIP
In a game at Sharjah against KXIP, RCB inexplicably held back ABD purely because his numbers against leg spinners aren’t great. This move backfired tremendously for RCB as they went on to lose a close match, which proved that had ABD come ahead and played at his normal position, the eventual result may have been something else.
