The organizers of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Big Bash League (BBL) are in complete dilemma due to the high demand of joining the Cricket South Africa’s CSA T20 League.
In the recent developments for the new league, England’s limited-over skipper Jos Buttler and teammate Liam Livingstone have recently signed up to play in the more lucrative CSA T20 competition.
Due to a stronger offer for the players, the CSA T20 League is now winning the war for signing players. Each side in the CSA T20 League has USD 2MN player budget. While $300K cap on each player’s pay has been implemented.
The competitors, on the other hand, BPL & Big Bash are delivering far less, which is the main reason players opted for the new CSA league.
CSA T20 signs Butler, Livingstone
Apart from Buttler and Livingstone, Moeen Ali and Jason Holder will be also be in the pursuit of big names reportedly for the $300K cap.
Six teams will compete in the league, which is being headed by former South African captain Graeme Smith. Each club will have a $2 million budget for player recruitment.
The competition will feature some significant players from around the world when it begins next year. The United Arab Emirates will host a different new event at the same time, which might cause conflict and potentially split the top cricket players in the globe because many known players will be rooting for the UAE competition too.
South Africa has officially declared that franchises from the Indian Premier League have swept all six teams. There will be teams from the Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Lucknow Super Giants in the league.
Prior to this, South Africa suspended playing the ODI series against Australia early next year to make room for their new league, even though they were aware that this would jeopardise their prospects of making the ICC World Cup.
