IPL 2022: ‘Not Been Up To The Mark’ Siraj On Not Reaching Teams Expectations

Siraj on his performance in IPL 2022: Mohammad Siraj, one of three players retained by RCB prior to the mega auctions, discussed his performances in the IPL 2022. He considers that he has not performed well in the competition and that he has failed to meet his team’s aspirations so far in this.

Siraj hasn’t taken enough wickets in this edition of the cash-rich tournament. He believes that he has to reach his potential and concentrate on bagging wickets in the powerplay in terms of bringing momentum to his side.

“I haven’t performed the way I wanted to. What the team wants from Siraj, I haven’t been able to do that so far. I am focussing my preparation on my role which is to get wickets in the powerplay and set the tone for the team. That’s my plan’, said the RCB seamer Mohammad Siraj.

I’ll try my best to bowl at one spot in the powerplay: Siraj

He stated that he had not been able to showcase the consistency needed to fulfill his position on the squad, but he promises to do so in powerplay overs by pitching in the ideal places.

“My role is to deliver in the powerplay and at the death. I think my consistency hasn’t been up to the mark. I’ll try my best to bowl at one spot in the powerplay. Even if I get hit for runs with the batter hitting a good shot then also it’s not a big deal because he’s here to play as well. But I will try and bowl consistently on spot”, the 28-years old added.

Siraj has only taken 8 wickets in ten games so far and hopes to improve in the next games. Siraj’s avg and economy rate have dropped compared to the prior IPL season, and RCB’s powerplay bowling has become a subject of discussion.

However, after three consecutive setbacks, RCB staged a tremendous turnaround against the Chennai Super Kings in the recent game, leaving Dhoni and co., in a hard spot. Following the victory, RCB has earned a comfortable fourth-place finish in the points standings. Moreover, RCB must maintain their winning streak focusing on NRR, in an attempt to advance to the finals and win their first IPL title.
