Shimron Hetmyer has returned to India to join Rajasthan’s camp for the last two weeks of the 15th edition of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2022).
The star batter, who impressed everyone with his solid batting technique and hard-hitting approach, had flown to Guyana the previous week to attend the birth of his first child.
Shimron Hetmyer Rejoins Rajasthan Royals
Jimmy Neesham got the chance to play for Rajasthan in the absence of Shimron Hetmyer in the 63rd match of IPL 2022, where he scored 14 runs off 12 balls before getting run out. But as the big hitter returned to India, so he will likely replace Neesham and will feature in the final league game of RR against CSK.
Rajasthan bought him for 8.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction, and the left-hand batter did exactly what his team wanted from him.
In the 11 matches he played so far for his franchise this season, Hetmyer has scored 291 runs at an average of 72.75 and with a strike of 166.29.
He smashed 21 sixes so far, and he is tied for fifth place in the list of most number of sixes hit in IPL 2022. On top of that, his strike rate in the final four overs (death overs) is 214.28, which is 5th highest this season, tell the whole scenario how badly Rajasthan wanted him to join the squad again.
Rajasthan will play their next match against Chennai Super Kings on May 20, 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium.
The Royals are currently on 2nd place with 16 points, and his return will provide the Sanju Samson-led side much more confidence and if the Royals managed to beat Chennai side then the Royals will most likely to end up in the top 2 and will face the mighty Gujarat Titans in the qualifier 1 on Tuesday, May 24 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
