Shane Warne: “Sachin Is The Best Who Can Play In Any Conditions”
Legendary spinner Shane Warne has spoken about some of the best batsmen during his times and what made them special. He chose Sachin Tendulkar as the best batsman who could play in any conditions.
Considered as one of the greatest spinners of all time, Warne interacted with his fans on the Instagram live session.
When the topic of who is the best batsman of his time raised, the retired cricketer said he would prefer Sachin over another batting great Brian Lara as the best batsman who could play in any conditions though it would be a toss-up.
The 50-year-old replied, “If I have to choose any batsman to bat in any conditions, it is a real toss-up between Tendulkar and (Brian) Lara, but I would just choose Tendulkar.”
But Warne acknowledged Lara’s greatness when he said he would pick him over any other batsman if the chasing down score is 400 on the fifth day.
“If we have to chase 400 runs on the last day, I will pick Lara,” added the leg spinner who had an illustrious career where he took more than 700 wickets.
He further added, “There were these two guys, then there was daylight, and after that, the rest of the batsmen came.”
When asked about former Australia world cup winning captain Steve Waugh who was known for his determination Warne told that he was someone who could rescue the team from volatile situations.
David Warner Not Included In His Best Eleven
“Steve was more of a match saver than a match-winner,” Warne said about Waugh, whom he named in his all-time Australian Test XI to be led by Allan Border.
About his dream team, he said that he chose only players he played with, and hence David Warner was excluded but praised Warner that he was one of the most excellent openers for Australia.
Warne team consists of Matthew Hayden, Michael Slater Ricky Ponting, Mark Waugh, Border, and Steve Waugh, Adam Gilchrist, Glenn McGrath, Jason Gillespie, Bruce Reid, and Tim May.
