32nd Match of BBL-12; Melbourne Renegades Vs Hobart Hurricanes
Melbourne Renegades beat Hobart Hurricanes by 6 wickets
REN vs HUR, Match Highlights: The Melbourne Renegades have won two straight games after losing four straight, getting back on track. They defeated the Hurricanes and defeated Melbourne Stars in the previous match.
Early in the day, the Hurricane’s batters had trouble turning their starts into runs. And as a result, they ended up with a respectable score of 162 on an excellent batting surface. In retort, Guptill gave the Renegades a great start, and Sam Harper’s innings turned out to be the finishing blow.
REN vs HUR: Sam Harper Career Best Innings
This KFC BBL season, Harper had struggled in his first five starts, averaging just 5.4 and recording three ducks. Marcus Harris, a part of the returning Test team, was booted out as a result of his lack of decision during his most recent attempt, which didn’t start well.
At Marvel Stadium on Saturday, the tiny wicketkeeper was able to immediately regain focus and find a rhythm as he smashed 89 off just 48 deliveries. Harper hit seven sixes in the amazing inning before Tim David eventually out caught him off Nathan Ellises.
REN vs HUR: Early On in the Innings
Although the Hurricanes scored a respectable total, given the strong start they had, they could have done much better. All three of their top batters got out to strong starts, but none were able to sustain their quick starts.
The bowlers for the Renegades consistently took out the opposition and never let them off the hook. Additionally, the Canes lost a few significant wickets to run-outs, which didn’t assist their cause either.
The Hurricanes were able to set some respectability total (162/8), thanks to Ashraf and Paris’ cameos, but their efforts went in vain as Renegades win the match by 6 wickets.
REN vs HUR: Pre-Match Injury Concerns
When left-arm spinner Patrick Dooley sustained a finger injury while practising catches during the warm-up, the Hurricanes were dealt a setback before the game. This loss resulted in the Hurricanes losing the match as they were unable to stop or restrict the Renegades from chasing down the target.
