RCB vs RR: Virat Kohli still the best captain, followed by Sanju Samson and Faf du Plessis

Today is a special day for both the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals fans as the two giants of the Indian Premier League will face each in the qualifier 2 of IPL 2022 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. let’s discuss how do they perform under pressure. RCB vs RR: Virat Kohli followed by Sanju and Faf.

Both teams’ captains are very well skilled and have plenty of captaincy experience behind them. But today we are here to discuss how much they perform under pressure.

Faf du Plessis, Not as Captain – 94 innings, 34.56, As Captain – 14, 27.31

The experienced campaigner who had played a key role in Chennai Super King’s 2021 IPL victory, has bought by RCB in the 2022 mega auction and was appointed as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore after their long-time skipper Virat Kohli announced his step down decision from captaincy in the last season.

FAF has a magnificent record as a player in IPL as the ex-skipper of South Africa maintained an average of 34.47 in 109 innings he played so far.

In 94 innings he played as a player, he scored fearlessly at an average of 34.56. But during his captaincy tenure, we saw a bit of dip in his performance may be because of captaincy pressure as in the ongoing IPL 2022, he recorded 443 runs in 15 innings at an average of 31.64.

Sanju Samson, Not as Captain – 103 innings 27.78, As Captain – 29 innings, 34.81

Sanju Samson was named as captain of Rajasthan Royals in the last season of IPL, though his team finished 7th out of 8, his performance truly stood out.

He scored 905 runs in 29 games he played so far as captain of Rajasthan Royals at a good to the best average of 34.81. The interesting thing about Samson’s stats is that in his non-captaincy days he recorded an average of 27.78 in 103 innings. While his average saw a huge rise while he is captaining the side. A 7.03 hike in Samson’s performance as captain shows that he is a serious leader who likes to beat challenges at any cost.

Virat Kohli, Not as Captain – 75 innings, 26.30, As Captain – 139, 42.08

The player who needs no introduction has captained the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the most number of years and also took RCB to newer heights in terms of the fan base, the only thing he wasn’t able to provide RCB during his 8 years captaincy tenure was the IPL trophy.

He has a splendid record while captaining the RCB side, he took his team to playoffs 4 times out of 8. On top of that, he recorded a 15.36 up average as captain. In the 75 innings, he played as a team player he only scored with an average of 26.30. But when he was captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, he created many records, one of the most interesting among them, when he scored 973 runs in the 2016 season, including 4 centuries.

As captain, Kohli has scored at an average of highly impressive 42.08, which truly justifies the statement that a leader needs to be always leading from the front.
