Moeen Ali lends support to Jos Buttler amid England’s continuous defeats

All-rounder Moeen Ali had asked England not to worry about making a dull start under Jos Buttler as he believes that the team will peak at the right time.

Buttler took the charge as white-ball captain of England after Eoin Morgan’s annced his retirement later last month. However, since he started as the skipper, the English side has just won a single match out of 4 games.

Team India first dominated over hosts in the T20I series, where they defeated England by 2-1. And in the first ODI they restricted the hosts for just 108 and later chased down the target in just 18.4 overs with 10 wickets in hand.

However, even after facing such defeats Moeen Ali feels that the current skipper of England is a brilliant leader, and the team should not need to panic with these defeats.

“Jos is a brilliant leader. He has done it over the years when Eoin hasn’t played but it is going to take a couple of games in all the formats,” Moeen Ali was quoted as saying by Skysports.”As a new captain no matter how cool you are you want to get off to a winning start but he knows there is a long way to go and the team will be fine.

“There is no need to panic or change. It definitely takes time to bed in and it will take a few defeats, which is fine. We have been dominating for the last few years in a nice way and playing well. We’ve had a lot of success but sometimes I feel we don’t want to peak too early.

“We want to win now but you don’t want to win all games. Sometimes you learn more from losing games. We have lost a few games at the moment but that is good for us going forward and closer to a World Cup we will start winning.”

The second ODI between India and England will take place at Lord’s in London on July 14.
