Ishan Kishan, who has made a significant leap in the current International Cricket Council (ICC) Rankings, has become Team India’s highest-ranked T20I hitter. The left-handed hitter vaulted 68 spots to eighth place on the elite list and is receiving plaudits from all sides. Kishan made his international debut last year and has only been in a few games thus yet. Let’s discuss on India’s Top T20I Batter.
With KL Rahul dropping to 14th place, the 23-year-old is the only Indian batsman in the top ten batters. Regular skipper Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer have both slipped a position to 16th and 17th, while former captain Virat Kohli has dropped two places to 21st.
Ishan Kishan has been in an excellent form lately
Meanwhile, in the present five-match T20I series against South Africa, Kishan has been in superb form, scoring 164 runs in only three appearances, including two fifties. Kishan’s T20I career is still in its early stages, as he has just played 13 matches for India and scored 453 runs at an average of over 38.
In the T20I rankings, veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has advanced seven places to 11th position, while leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has risen four places to 26th place. Josh Hazlewood of Australia is currently the best T20 bowler, while Maheesh Theekshana of Sri Lanka has risen 16 places to seventh.
India’s Jasprit Bumrah has climbed to third place in the Test rankings, barely behind his colleague and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who has remained at number two. In the Test format, Ashwin is the second-best all-rounder, after Ravindra Jadeja, his colleague, and star all-rounder.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli are still ranked seventh and tenth in the Test batting rankings, respectively. After recording back-to-back century in an ongoing Test series against New Zealand, former England captain Joe Root has reclaimed the number one slot. Root has taken up the number one slot from Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne.
