IPL 2022, SRH vs MI Match Summary:
SRH vs MI Match Summary: The tussle for playoffs is going on at a war pace with the middle-order teams of the IPL points table launching an attacking fight to win each and every game. Such was the case during the match held between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Tuesday.
The teams showed their best performances, not seen in their previous matches held. Right from the batsmen, to the bowlers and to the fielders, both the teams excelled in all areas in order to curtail their opponent.
Despite being asked to bat first after losing the toss, the orange army was able to score big in the first innings. The SRH made the scoreboard tick with Rahul Tripathi adding 76 runs off 44 balls to his team. Priyam Garg with his 42-run knock and Nicholas Pooran scoring 38 runs off 22 balls made the team achieve a good total of 193 runs.
Ramandeep Singh from Mumbai Indians plucked three wickets with Jasprit Bumrah and Daniel Sams contributing each wicket for their team against SRH.
Mumbai also had a good start where the initial partnership between opening batsmen Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan added 95 runs to the team. The skipper, Sharma, used the Wankhede’s deck to his maximum making the bowlers think about his stunning batting style. He scored 48 runs off 36 balls.
Sharma took the pavilion route in the 10th over bowled by Washington Sundar. Kishan left the crease post he was caught by Priyam Garg against the fast pacer, Umran Malik. When Daniel Sams and Tilak Varma left the crease for a low score, Tim David continued his hard-hitting knocks by scoring 48 runs in just 18 balls.
However, the SRH which was patient in achieving its target defeated the Mumbai franchise with a mere difference of three runs. The fast pacer, Umran Malik, removed three wickets with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sundar removing one wicket each. The match was completed with the MI team losing five wickets and three runs left to register a win.
Speaking during the post-match presentation, skipper Rohit Sharma said till about the second last over, there was a chance. “We thought we were very much in the game before that unfortunate run-out. 19 runs in two overs, you would usually back yourself to get it. Credit to SRH for the way they held their nerve in the back end,” he said, adding that they (SRH) batted very well to get to 193.
Winning captain of SRH, Kane Williamson said nice to break the losing streak but also win that little wrestle. “Momentum was certainly not on our side and the game ebbed and flowed. All-in-all a really good performance and a lot of learnings to take away,” he said.
Speaking about Rahul Tripathi, Kane said he is a special player seriously. “He comes out and takes the momentum away and we have seen it on a number of occasions in this tournament,” he said, adding that Umran Malik always bowls quick which is a bonus for us.
