Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran struck Delhi Capitals bowler Khaleel Ahmed on the chest, inflicting a severe injury. The event occurred on Thursday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, during a match between Hyderabad and Delhi.
On the fourth ball of the 13th over, the event occurred. Pooran slammed Khaleel’s long-winded speech hard in the face. The ball hit the Delhi pacer around the left collarbone because he didn’t have enough time to react and shift out. Khaleel was treated by physiotherapists, and the 24-year-old appeared to be in good enough shape to continue. The left-arm bowler has 14 wickets from seven matches in the current IPL season, with an economy rate of 7.85.
Earlier, Delhi scored a massive 207/3 in 20 overs while batting first. David Warner (92 not out off 58 balls) produced a brilliant innings to assist his team to achieve a manageable total. Later, West Indies batsman Rovman Powell made an important contribution with a scorching performance of 67 off 35 balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sean Abbott, and Shreyas Gopal each took one wicket for Hyderabad in the game.
In response, Hyderabad struggled to get off to a good start in their run chase, losing both of their opening batsmen in the first five overs. Later, Aiden Markram (42 runs off 25 balls) and wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran (62 runs off 34 balls) displayed excellent batting, but their efforts were ultimately in vain, as Hyderabad could only score 186 runs in 20 overs, losing eight wickets.
Khaleel Ahmed took three wickets and Shardul Thakur two to help their team to a 21-run victory in the encounter. Delhi now sits in fifth place on the points standings after this victory, with 10 points from ten games. On May 8, Delhi will face reigning champions Chennai Super Kings in their next encounter.
Hyderabad, on the other hand, is in sixth place in the IPL rankings after suffering three consecutive defeats. On Sunday, Kane Williamson’s side will face Royal Challengers Bangalore at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
