The International Cricket Council (ICC) proposed in the Olympics include cricket with a strong emphasis on India-centric audio-visual presentation.
The proposal paper places a special emphasis on India’s billion-plus fans. Due to global icons such as Virat Kohli and Mithali Raj. Last week, the ICC attempted to draw attention to cricket’s inclusion. Taking place in the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028 could bring billions of new fans.
Kohli and Mithali, both are well-known athletes. It noticed that the ICC is concentrating on them. Kohli has 216 million Instagram followers.
Aside from the Kohli and Mithali factor, the ICC also stated that cricket connects the Olympics. South Asia would bring enormous commercial opportunities to the Games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) was not included.
In addition to cricket, are competing to be accepted by the LA28 organizers. The list includes karate, baseball, softball, kickboxing, squash, lacrosse, and American football.
They can bring to the global sporting spectacle. The presentations were scheduled to take place over a month ago but could only be completed last week. The inclusion of the mentioned sporting events will be decided at an IOC meeting in Mumbai in mid-2023.
According to an American media report, “the shortlisted IFs had to meet certain criteria outlined by LA28 and the IOC. Such as environmental sustainability, gender equality, integrity, and fairness. Also popularity and host country interest, athlete safety, and cost and complexity”.
“The review process of potential new sports for the LA28 Olympic sports program is ongoing”, according to the ICC statement. Although, We are still learning more in preparation for the sports proposal submission to the IOC next year.
Adding a new discipline is not a requirement report says.
