A tale of 3 Indian women cricketers who proudly represent USA internationally!

Indian sports personalities are making our nation proud in whichever sports profession they are involved in. They are talented and hardworking, winning tournaments, gaining popularity, and making India proud in every corner of the world. Here we can know about the Indian players representing the USA cricket team

However, it doesn’t matter if they are not been able to play for the national side for some reason, but they are doing equally good in the other part of the world and making India proud with their achievements.

And we’re not talking about men’s cricketers; we’re talking about Indian women’s cricketers, who have continued to thrive despite the odds stacked against them.

There are 3 Indian origin players in the national cricket team of the United States of America,

Sindhu Sriharsha (c) – Bangalore

It will interesting for all of us Indians to know that the current captain of team USA is none other than the girl who once represented India A and India under-21, Sindhu Sriharsha.

She was born in Bangalore and started playing cricket at the age of nine, with a dream to represent her country. She did achieve some milestones in her teenage but when she was not selected for NCA camp in 2011, she decided to move on.

She got married to MR Sriharsha MS and moved to the USA. But as they say, what you seek is seeking you; an inner cricketer in her always wants to play cricket no matter in which form, and in the USA she once again got a chance to play club cricket, and sooner she got into the international side as well.

The month of May in 2019 turned out to be the dream come true month of Sindhu’s life as the Indian-origin Sindhu Sriharsha was named the captain of the United States of America team, and under her captaincy, the USA won the America qualifiers by 2-0 lead, and on top of that, she ended the tournament as the top scorer with 80 runs in three games.

Moksha Choudhary – Punjab

Moksha Choudhary also had a dream to play for India and she was very close to opening the Indian team doors when she got selected for the 2013 ICC women’s World Cup probable, but unfortunately, she did not qualify.

She then got married in 2017 and moved to the USA. However, before going to the USA she used to play club cricket in India and took quick guidance on how the cricket structure works in America helped her to start her training in the US when she reached there, and finally, in 2018, she played her first official Women’s Cricket match.

The right-arm medium bowler from Patiala then got selected for the Amerian Women’s T20 International team in 2021. She made her T20 debut for the USA team against Brazil in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Americas Region Qualifier in 2021, where she took 2 wickets while giving just 16 runs in 4 overs.

Akshatha Rao – Shimoga

Mumbai & Karnataka to North California

Akshatha Gadahath Rao was born in Shimoga, Karnataka. And now she is considered one of the finest cricketers in the United States of America.

She took up cricket very early and became a serious cricketer rewarded her with a sports scholarship and she played for four years as a member of the AMC College Women’s Cricket program.  Around that time, she was drafted into the internationally renowned Karnataka Institute of Cricket (KIOC) women’s team.

Then she moved to the USA, but it was not challenging for her to play in the US, as sometime after moving to the USA, she soon was selected to play in USACA tournaments as part of the USA North-western Region women’s team in and earned a place on the USA national women’s team in June 2011 due to her brilliant off-spin bowling. While she made her T20 international debut for the USA in 2019.
