Solomon Mire and Henry Masakadza of Zimbabwe led India Capitals to a 78-run victory over Bhilwara Kings in the fourth game of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium.
The Gautam Gambhir-led Capitals posted 198/5. It is the best total in the League thus far, thanks to Mire’s 82 off 38 balls and Masakadza’s 48 off 30 balls.
The Capitals’ bowlers continued to nibble away, taking wickets at regular intervals, and they eventually won their first game of the tournament. Bhilwara were dismissed for 120 runs in 19.2 overs.
India Capitals Vs Bhilwara Kings match highlights
Invited to bat, the Capitals faced a dreary start as they lost Gambhir early. A ferocious counterattack by the “M & M” duo of Mire and Masakadza, however, gave the Capitals the advantage in the game.
With largely fours and sixes, the two collaborated on 105 runs. Yusuf’s leg-before-wicket catch of Masakadza provided Bhilwara with a much-needed breakthrough.
But Mire wasn’t in the mood to be quiet. The 33-year-old caused significant damage before mistiming a hoick from Yusuf after hitting seven boundaries and six enormous sixes.
Apart from the M&M duo, wicketkeeper-batter Denesh Ramdin contributed 20*. While Ashley Nurse added 10 runs to the team’s final total of 198/5.
Yusuf picked the highest number of wickets for Bhilwara 3 for 28. While Tino Best and Tim Bresnan bagged a wicket each.
In reply, Bhilwara felt pressure which was seen right away in their chasing campaign as Nick Compton (1) and Naman Ojha were both dismissed in two excellent overs by Capitals bowler Pankaj Singh.
Pravin Tambe’s spin was also mesmerizing. The 50-year-old, who had taken three wickets in the Capitals’ opening game, recorded 2/24 in the second.
Bhilwara didn’t managed to recover from their shaky start and kept on losing wickets. Their last hopes were Pathan Brothers. But, they also failed to show any charisma on Wednesday. And soon Bhilwara found it impossible to keep up with the asking rate.
India Capitals registered their first victory of the tournament with a comprehensive 78-run win over the Bhilwara Kings to climb to second spot on the points table.
