IND vs ENG 1st ODI: After a massive number of setbacks in his cricketing career, of late, the former skipper, Virat Kohli, is going through a tough time during the tour of England, too. The out-of-form player, unable to make a comeback as part of his batting skill, is now likely to not play in the first ODI against England at Oval on Tuesday due to a groin strain.
Amidst several comments from different corners, some of them supporting him and some denying his presence on the team, this injury is likely to create more impact as it can prolong his time, reducing the chances to prove his might.
A source from BCCI told PTI that Virat Kohli had a groin strain during the last game. “It can’t be confirmed whether it happened during fielding or while batting. He will probably miss the first ODI tomorrow at Oval as the groin needs rest,” the PTI quoted him further as saying.

According to some news reports, Kohli didn’t take the team bus to travel from Nottingham to London where the reasons are being stated as due to a stopover in between to get a medical check-up in order to analyze his current fitness conditions.
On Monday, Shikhar Dhawan, Shardul Thakur, and Prasidh Krishna, the players selected for the ODIs only, had an optional net session at the Oval ground in London.

BCCI selection committee cancels meeting?
As per the news reports, after learning about Kohli’s injury, the selection committee canceled the meeting, which was reportedly being held to finalize the squad for the ODI series against West Indies. The meeting would likely be taking place on Tuesday.
Given Virat Kohli’s poor form, there were several questions about his place in the Indian team. Also, Kohli’s request for another break isn’t playing anything better with officials at the helm in BCCI not being positive about his proposal.
“If a player wants to rest, you can’t deny him. Yes, it’s not ideal for a player who is struggling with form. But we can’t force a player to play if he doesn’t want. But no decision on Virat has been made yet. We will discuss with both captain and the coach before announcing the squad,” InsideSport quoted a member of the selection committee as saying.
