Harshal Patel was born in Sanand, Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 23 November 1990. Harshal Patel is a right-arm Indian fast bowler who has been a part of the Indian T20I squad for the past couple of months. Harshal Patel has made fame for himself with his hard work and developed bowling skills in the last couple of years. Harshal Patel also won the Purple cap award in the Indian Premier League 2021. Harshal Patel is the captain of the Haryana team in the Ranji Trophy and plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Harshal is also an effective lower middle order batter and has the skills to be an aggressive batter in the slog overs.

Harshal Patel started off playing cricket at the very early age of 5 years. At the age of just 8 years, he began taking coaching from Tarak Trivedi. He became a regular player for his school team and won many matches for them. Harshal Patel attended H. A College of Commerce, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and did his Bachelors of Commerce from the college. In 2008, Harshal Patel joined the Aggressive Cricket Club in Ahmedabad and also played in the Cricket League in New Jersey. Harshal Patel’s family went to the USA in 2005. However, Harshal Patel stayed back in India as he wanted to pursue cricket as his career.

Harshal Patel started off his domestic career when he started got picked up in the India Under-19 squad for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy in the season 2008-09. Harshal Patel picked 23 wickets in the tournament and ended up as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.
In 2009, Harshal Patel was picked up in the squad of Gujarat and he made his List A debut in a match against Maharashtra at Rajkot in the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament.
A year later, Harshal Patel was picked up in the Indian squad for ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. However, he didn’t get a chance to play in any match and just warmed the bench.
After constantly getting ignored by the selectors of Gujarat for Ranji Trophy, In the 2011-12 Ranji Trophy season Harshal Patel moved to the Haryana team and displayed his class in the season when he picked 8 wickets consistently in the Quarter-final and the semi-final in the 2011-12 season.

Harshal Patel made his Indian Premier League debut back in 2012 when he was picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He played 12 matches in the season and took 9 wickets.
Harshal Patel remained with Bangalore till 2018. However, he didn’t get many chances and gave some average performances in the matches when he was provided the opportunities.
In 2018, Harshal Patel was roped in by Delhi Daredevils in the mega auction. However, he didn’t play many matches for Delhi as well.

However, a few days later Harshal Patel leaked 37 runs in an over against Chennai Super Kings and bowled the most expensive over in the history of IPL.
Harshal Patel picked 32 wickets in the season and won Purple Cap for the season. He also became the highest Indian wicket-taker in a single season of IPL.
In TATA IPL 2022, Harshal Patel bought back Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping amount of 10.75 crores. Harshal Patel played 15 matches in the season and took 19 wickets.
