Hardik Pandya, in full Hardik Himanshu Pandya (born on 11 October 1993 in Surat, Gujarat) is an Indian allrounder. Hardik is a right-hand batter as well as he can bowl right-arm medium. Pandya was a regular member of the Indian squad in all formats before his injury in 2021. He is known for his aggressive batting approach and has won many matches for India single-handedly. In the domestic circuit, he plays for Baroda. Hardik was made captain of the new franchise Gujarat Titans in TATA IPL 2022. It is expected that it won’t be long when Hardik will be back in the Indian dressing room as he has regained his fitness.

Hardik started playing cricket at a very young age of 5 years, when his father shifted from Surat to Vadodara only to provide his sons better cricket opportunities. He managed to get both of his sons (Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya) in the Cricket Academy of Kiran More. Hardik dropped his schooling after 9th in order to focus more on cricket. He played many junior level matches but also got dropped due to his attitude issues with the other players. Kiran More helped him a lot in his early days by not charging any fee. Initially Hardik started off his career as a leg spinner but than switched to fast bowler after the assistance from his coach Sanath Kumar and Kiran More.

Hardik Pandya started off his domestic career back in 2013. He made his first class debut for Baroda against Mumbai in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament. He played an important role for his side and helped them in lifting the trophy in 2013-14 season.

In 2016, Hardik smashed 8 sixes in an innings for Baroda against Vidarbha in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He scored 86 runs in the match and helped his team in winning the match by 6 wickets.

After giving some magnificent performances in the Domestic circuit for his state team, Hardik Pandya was picked up in the T20 squad of Indian team. He made his international debut on 26 January 2016 against Australia. He picked 2 wickets on his debut.

In a T20I match against Sri Lanka, Hardik was sent to bat ahead of MS Dhoni. He scored 27 runs off 14 balls.

In 2016 Asia Cup, he helped India in reaching out to a respectable total with his knock of 31 off 18 balls against Bangladesh. He picked 3 wickets against Pakistan in another match of Asia Cup.

In 2016 World T20, Hardik took 2 wickets in the last over and helped India in winning the match against Bangladesh by just 1 run.

In a T20 match against England in 2018, he gave his career best performance of T20s by picking up 4 wickets. He also scored 33 runs off just 14 balls and helped India in winning the match.

In 2021, he was picked up in the squad of T20 World Cup, but the star all rounder failed to make his impact in the tournament and later got dropped as he was not fully fit to bowl in the matches.

After giving good performances in T20Is for India, Hardik was picked in the ODI squad against New Zealand. Hardik made his ODI debut against New Zealand on 16 October 2016. He scored 36 runs off 32 balls and was named Man of the Match on his debut ODI match.

In 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final against Pakistan, Pandya smashed 76 runs of just 43 balls but was not able to save the match. In the same year, he was selected in ODI team of the year.

In 2019, Hardik played his 50th ODI match for India. Before getting injured in 2021, Hardik was a consistent member of Indian limited over squad.

Firstly, Hardik Pandya was selected in the test series against England in 2016 but the all rounder got injured during training session. Pandya made his test debut in 2017 against Sri Lanka at Galle. In the 3rd test of the series and his career, he made his maiden test century. In the same test, he also made a record of hitting most runs in an over in test matches.

However, he played his last test in 2018 and didn’t got chance to represent India in red-ball cricket after that till now.

Hardik was bought by Mumbai Indians in 2015 at his base price of 10 Lakhs. Hardik was a crucial member of the franchise and played an important role when Mumbai won the tournament in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.

He played 17 matches in 2017 and scored 250 runs took 6 wickets.
