4 Shpageeza Premier League Spectators Injured by EXPLOSION at Kabul stadium

Explosion at Kabul Cricket Stadium: Four people were hurt when an explosion occurred in the stands at Kabul International Cricket Stadium during a Shpageeza Premier League T20 match. The match, which was played between Band-e-Amir Dragons and Pamir Zalmi, was the second of the day at the same location.

The Band-e-Amir Dragons quickly chased down their DLS adjusted goal of 94 in 10 overs to seal victory with nine wickets and 17 balls to spare after the four spectators had been transported to the hospital and the police had given the all-clear for play to restart. Before the pursuit was postponed, Pamir Zalmi had made 159 for 5 in their 20.

Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Naseeb Khan informed ESPNcricinfo that “Kabul police took control of the situation when they came and cordoned off the area.” “They gave us the all-clear to pick up the game after about an hour.”

The bomb had no impact on any of the players or coaching staff who were actively participating in the game.

At this T20, a few well-known Afghanistan players were competing. World Cup star Shapoor Zadran was leading Pamir Zalmi, and by his side were Dawlat Zadran, a reserve for the squad in the T20 World Cup in 2021, and Mohammadullah Najibullah, a member of the Under-19 team for the 2022 World Cup.

Aftab Alam, who last represented Afghanistan in the 2019 World Cup before being disqualified for a year for conduct violations, led the winning Band-e-Amir Dragons. Karim Janat, a bowling all-rounder who participated in Afghanistan’s most recent assignment, a tour of Zimbabwe in June, Kamran Ghulam, a batsman for the Lahore Qalandars, and Ikram Alikhil, an 18-year-old who once scored 86 runs off 93 balls against the West Indies in an ODI World Cup match, was among his teammates.

Afghanistan’s top domestic T20 league, the Shpageeza Premier League, is held exclusively in Kabul. The tournament’s 22nd game was this particular contest. Six more league-phase games remain, followed by three playoff games and the championship game.
