‘Didn’t Get The Respect’: Chris Gayle Slams IPL’s ‘Disrespectful’ Culture

When asked about his unavailability from the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), West Indies cricket icon Chris Gayle said that he had been mistreated for the preceding two years. Over the course of his time in the Indian Premier League, Gayle has been a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Here in this article, we have talked about how Chris Gayle Slams IPL and IPL’s ‘Disrespectful’ Culture.

During participating in the previous franchises, he has put in some outstanding performances, with his greatest coming while starring for RCB, the outfit for whom he has featured the most appearances.

With several IPL achievements to his credit, including the highest individual score in the league’s history (175*), numerous innings with seven or more sixes, the quickest century (30 balls), and plenty more, Gayle has established a reputation for himself in the competition. While he has played for Punjab Kings in the previous two seasons, his name has been left off the list for the blockbuster auction this year.

Chris Gayle Slams IPL:’Didnot Get The Respect’. Next year I’m coming back, they need me.

“The way the IPL has happened over the years, I felt that I was not treated well. So I thought ‘Okay, after doing so much for the game and the IPL, you (Gayle) didn’t get the respect you deserved. So I said ‘Okay, I won’t bother to enter the draft,’ so I just left it like that. There’s always going to be life after cricket so I’m trying to adapt to mediocrity”, said Gayle.

He has begun preparation for the upcoming IPL season regardless of the fact that he is not participating in the IPL 2022. He made this announcement through social media, where he posted an image of himself working out. Once again, the triple centurion reaffirmed his commitment to the franchise and expressed his ambition to win the IPL championship with either RCB or Punjab.

“Next year I’m coming back, they need me!. I’ve represented three teams in the IPL, Kolkata, RCB, and Punjab. Between RCB and Punjab, I would love to get a title, with one of those two teams. I had a great stint with RCB where I was more successful within the IPL and Punjab, they’ve been good. I love to explore and I love challenges so let’s see what happens,” the ‘Universe Boss’ concluded.

Now that the Indian Premier League is split into 10 teams, it would be intriguing to watch which franchise signs him for the IPL 2023 when he heads up for auction in the time being.
