Cheteshwar Pujara’s Double-Century: Pujara scored his first hundred in first-class cricket in far more than 2 years in a County Championship Division Two match involving Sussex and Derbyshire. The Indian batter smashed his first hundred for Sussex in the 2nd innings, transforming it into a double-tonne, and emphasized his comeback after a low score of 6 (15) in the first innings.
Sussex men were dismissed for 174 runs in 56.3 overs, leaving Derbyshire imposing the follow-on, Derbyshire declared their initial innings at 505/8 in 133 overs, following the lead of Shan Masood’s double hundred and Wayne Madsen’s tonne. However, they rebounded in the 2nd innings, scoring 513 runs for the cost of only 3 wickets on the last day. In the 2nd innings, Pujara’s undefeated 201*(387) runs were important for his team.
Tom Haines, his captain, also hit a double century, completing his innings with 243 runs in 491 deliveries. Pujara and Haines put up a 351-run stand to assist their team comes back into action. Pujara was axed from the Indian team after the Test series versus South Africa, following a string of poor performances over the preceding 2 years. He was dropped out of the Sri Lankan series team, and his yearly salary was reduced.

Cheteshwar Pujara’s most recent century came for Saurashtra versus Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy in January 2020. While India met Australia in Sydney in 2019, he scored his last Test century.
