British Media SLAMS Virat Kohli and here’s why

Current India vs England Test at Edgbaston has split fans and journalists all over the world because of Virat Kohli’s out-of-control celebrations. While some people support Kohli’s expression of aggressiveness, others do not. While fielding, Kohli has been quite talkative and engaged.

After England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow was out for 106 in the first innings, he gave Bairstow a flying kiss, and after opening batsman Alex Lees was run out in the second innings, he really went loose. A lot of people have been commenting about Kohli’s boisterous celebrations, during which he was spotted yelling, jumping, and pumping his fist in the air.

However, the British media is not amused by Kohli’s extravagant behaviour, labelling it “shameful, sad, and humiliating.” Numerous prominent members of the English media and even members of the general public disapproved of Kohli’s actions. Many others, including Piers Morgan and Fabian Cowdrey, denounced Kohli’s “insufferable” and “classless” behaviour. These are a few of the responses.

Ollie Pope was caught behind off Jasprit Bumrah in the first ball after tea, leaving Crawley at 107 for one and out.

As a result of a mix-up between Lees and Joe Root, who were both out at 109 for three, India then made it three wickets in 2.3 overs.

After Lees was sent go, Kohli lost his composure and erupted in a maniacal celebration. It is safe to assume that English supporters were not very happy.

A violent argument between Kohli and Bairstow in the first innings earned him critics. Initially, Kohli mocked Bairstow, telling him, “a little bit quicker than Southee, eh?” in reference to how much better the Indian pace attack was than the New Zealand bowling lineup against which Bairstow had hit a century.

The next day, things between the two became quite uncomfortable as Kohli continued to chirp at Bairstow. Bairstow managed to hit his sixth century of the year in a Test match by controlling his rage.

When it came to his performance with the bat, Kohli had a fairly forgettable game, which added to a streak of poor performances and low scores that have been holding him back. Despite starting brightly and getting to 20 runs in the second innings, the former India skipper edged Ben Stokes to be caught behind after scoring 11 runs in the first innings before playing on to a Matthew Potts delivery. Ending this series with 249 runs and two half-centuries in 10 innings, Kohli, who amassed 593 runs during India’s tour of England in 2018, finished with a 593-run total.
