The England Cricket Board has stated that Ben Stokes will not participate in England’s T20I against South Africa series or the Hundred. The information was released alongside the limited-overs teams for the three ODIs and three T20Is against South Africa that would start the following week.
After leading England to four successive Test triumphs over New Zealand and India at the beginning of the summer, Ben Stokes opted to take a break from the T20I series against India. The decision has been made to manage his workload, which also entails missing the second iteration of the Hundred for Northern Superchargers, with three further matches against South Africa commencing in the middle of August.
“To manage the workload and fitness of England Men’s Test captain Ben Stokes, he will not feature in the Vitality South Africa T20I series and The Hundred competition, which is due to start next month,” the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in a statement on Friday.
The South Africa tour of England starts on 19th July where the teams will play 3 ODIs. 3 T20Is and 3 Tests. The first game of the white-ball schedule against South Africa will take place on Tuesday at Chester-le-Street in Durham.
England is currently playing India at their home. The 3-match ODI series is at level 1-1 and the Sunday match will be the decider of who wins the series. In the 1st ODI India completely outplayed England while in the second, England did the same with India.
