BAN vs WI: Khaled Ahmed, a speed bowler for Bangladesh, maybe the one bright spot in what has otherwise been a dismal Test series thus far against the West Indies. Khaled, who gained attention for his quick-fire three wickets against the hosts on the first day of the Test, was finally rewarded for his tenacity when he recorded his first five-wicket haul on the third day of the match in St. Lucia.
Khaled gained notoriety against South Africa in the Durban Test, but he did not appear particularly impressive in the subsequent Test series against Sri Lanka at home. He should count himself fortunate since he might not have made the starting XI if Taskin Ahmed, who missed the Test series due to injury, had been available.
Khaled took two wickets on the second day, but after play began on the third day, captain Shakib al Hasan chose to deploy him at length from one end where he could get some movement and a bit of bounce.
By taking the necessary three wickets, he paid back his captain’s trust by stopping Kyle Mayers from scoring a well-deserved 150, which was undone by an off-cutter in his second over following a rain break.
“Since this is my first time picking a five-for, every wicket is meaningful to me. Since I had been attempting to dismiss Mayers since yesterday, taking his wicket made me quite thrilled. Today, I was able to pick him up with my slower ball, which felt fantastic because I had followed my strategy “After the game on Sunday, Khaled remarked (June 26).
Alzarri Joseph was caught at midwicket by Khaled during the abbreviated morning session, during which 11 overs could be bowled before the game was called off due to rain. Khaled also ended Jayden Seales’ continuous 10.3-over performance from one end by taking a healthy edge.
