Akash Chopra’s Statement on Ravichandran Ashwin
Akash Chopra, a former cricketer for India, believes that Ravichandran Ashwin cannot be counted on to take wickets in the shortest format of the game since the bowler occasionally falters. Chopra praised Ashwin for his performance following the T20 World Cup in 2021 and stated that the off-spinner would excel in the defensive bowler role, but he expressed skepticism about his performance when the team would be in need of wickets from him. Ashwin returned to the T20I format after an absence of eight months, and since then, he has claimed three wickets in as many games.
In the five games he played after the T20 World Cup 2021, Ashwin took six wickets; in the 17 games he played in the IPL 2022, he took 12 wickets. He received a T20I call-up for India’s five-match T20I series against the West Indies, and he was later included in the India team for the Asia Cup. United Arab Emirates-based tournament play begins on August 27.
“At the most recent World Cup, Ravichandran Ashwin was also a surprising choice. In addition, he just traveled to the West Indies before the World Cup, and as of right now, he is a member of the squad for the Asia Cup and appears to be returning to the World Cup “On his YouTube page, Chopra made the statement.
“If you are giving him a defensive role, he will do it to perfection. But if you are expecting wickets from him, be prepared that it might not happen. What role you define for him, is very important to me. I think it’s not about who is good or who is bad but the point is what sort of a spinner you need,” added Akash Chopra.
On August 28 in Dubai, India will play Pakistan in their opening match.
