Vivo Mobiles, one of the leading mobile manufacturing companies, announced that the advertisements featuring, Virat Kohli, will be kept on hold. The development occurred after the Chinese company began to face scrutiny from the Enforcement Directorate agency, lately.

Though the decision towards the adverts is for a temporary period, there is no clear thought when Kohli’s featured ads would be resuming for marketing in the public domain. The commercials were proposed to be broadcasted on television and disseminated on social media platforms.

According to one of the executives who spoke to Economic Times, the planned advertising and promotion activities involving Kohli are being put on hold till there is clarity on where the investigation is headed.

“Kohli’s team, too, was uncomfortable about the former Indian cricket captain being shown in Vivo ads for the time being. This is also to protect Virat from criticism,” the ET quoted another official as saying.

According to Reuters, the Enforcement Directorate blocked 119 bank accounts linked to Vivo’s India business which were holding 4.65 billion rupees ($58.76 million) as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering by the Chinese smartphone maker.

Kohli is now on England’s tour and will be playing for second T20 on Saturday. As there are speculations that Kohli would take another break for the five T20s against the West Indies, the next two fixtures against England gain more importance. His career hangs in balance as the young players began to show a fearless cricket and Kohli lagging behind in making a comeback into the game.

In an online interview, India skipper Rohit Sharma said to have (a batsman scoring) average of 50 plus runs in T20 format is crazy. “It is unreal, so obviously with the experience he has batted and build India is kind of batsmanship is required obviously and plus he’s still the leader of the team,” he said.

For the second T20I, Kohli is going to join the squad along with Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer. Jadeja is a like for a replacement in the place of Axar Patel as his inclusion would make the batting unit more solid.
