The Hundred: Adam Lyth Guides Superchargers To Win Over Fire

The Hundred League: Northern Superchargers vs Welsh Fire Highlights: Adam Lyth made the easy low-scoring chase easier with his impeccable 47 off 34 for his side and guided Northern Superchargers to win the match over Welsh Fire by 6 wickets.

Chasing a target of 115 in 100 balls, Northern Superchargers secured victory with 9 balls to spare, with Lyth playing the major role, skipper FAF was equally responsible for this splendid win as he maintained calm during a chase with his 32 off 24.

Earlier, Ben Duckett scored the most runs for Fire (64* off 48) to help them reach 114 mark in 100 balls.

The Hundred: Northern Superchargers vs Welsh Fire Match Highlights

Playing with a hope to claim their first victory in The Hundred League, Fire once again failed to make any impact as their top batters couldn’t manage to stay long or score quick runs as a result, when Fire lost the fourth wicket they were at 53 in 57 balls, a run-rate below 6.

Leus du Plooy, who made an unbeaten 21 from 15 deliveries, helped rebuild the Fire’s innings with Duckett, who had been the only Fire batsman to play with any semblance of consistency during this summer’s competition.

Duckett shot 64 off 48 balls and contributing eight of the team’s 11 boundaries.

Superchargers openers, Adam Lyth and skipper FAF du Plessis started the chase on a good note, with du Plessis was playing his usual innings building game, Lyth was in mood of aerial route only.

Lyth at Sophia Gardens appeared to be playing on a different surface than the other batsmen, slamming six boundaries in the powerplay to take his team to 42-0 whereas Fire could only muster 22-1.

David Willey and Harry Brook remained cool on crease and easily took their side home to ensure the Superchargers climbed level with the Brave before both lock horns at Headingley on Wednesday.

The Fire will be hoping to avoid losing all eight of its 2022 games when they face Trent Rockets, who are in the fight for the championship, on Monday.
