Sourav Ganguly withdraws, as his older brother Snehasish will take over as the new president of the Cricket Association of Bengal

Sourav’s Brother set to become New CAB President

Ganguly declared last week that he will run in the upcoming Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) elections after Roger Binny took over as BCCI president, but now he has since made the decision.

Sourav Ganguly, a former BCCI executive, has withdrawn from the Cricket Association of Bengal’s presidential election. Snehasish Ganguly, his brother, is expected to take over as head of the cricket organization.

CAB Other Board Members

The CAB President is going to be his brother. In the meantime, Amalendu Biswas submitted his application for the role of vice president, Naresh Ojha for the secretary position, Debabrata Das for the joint-secretary position, and Prabir Chakraborty for the position of treasurer at CAB.

Sourav’s next plan

As Sourav Ganguly has previously stated, he will run for CAB president in the future but decided against it because he served as the organization’s head from 2015 to 2019. Avishek Dalmiya, Jagmohan Dalmiya’s son, took over as CAB president after his father left to become the BCCI’s president. After the expiration of Avishek Dalmiya’s term, Snehasish Ganguly, Sourav’s brother, will assume leadership.

New BCCI President

On October 18, Roger Binny, a former World Cup-winning all-rounder, overwhelmingly chosen to serve as the board president, ending Sourav Ganguly’s term as BCCI president.

Ganguly’s Statment

He started saying “The new team will run the association (CAB). They will work for 3 years, and then we will see what is to be done. I have lots to do (in the next innings of my life).”

Reason for Backing – Out

“I had previously stated that I would only run if there was an election. There won’t be a vote. So there won’t be any competition “After deciding not to submit his paperwork for the president’s position on the final nomination day. Ganguly informed the media at Eden Gardens.

Snehasish Statment

Snehasish declared that elevating Bengal cricket to the “next level” would be his top priority.

He declared, Now that things are returning to normal [following Covid-19], we are making sure that cricket whether it be men’s, women’s, or age group cricket gets the utmost priority. He added that the CAB has already begun making plans for the ODI World Cup in 2019.

“The lights have been upgraded to LED operating on advanced DMX technology. The setting up of new seats is on. Repair and construction of new canopies are underway. We also have plans of upgrading the clubhouse.”
