Sam Curran eyes return to England test side

Sam Curran is ready to make a comeback to the England test side as the star all-rounder expressed his views on the team England’s recent win over New Zealand and gave hints to his return to England test squad.

Curran has played 24 test matches for England so far, scoring 815 runs and taking 47 wickets. He last played the test match in England’s jersey against India in 2021.

The young lad was out the entire winter due to a stress fracture in his back. He was not even the part of ICC T20 world Cup 2021 and the prestigious Ashes.

But now he is fit and all set to make a comeback to the limited-overs cricket as well. He will be next seen in white-ball cricket in a series against Netherlands, staring on June 17.

Sam Curran has also made four red-ball appearances for Surrey in the LV= Insurance County Championship, scoring 328 runs and bowling 17 wicket less overs, and is eager to push his way back into Ben Stokes’ England side.

“It was massively exciting to watch them, a fantastic win and a game that had everything,” Curran said in an interview with Press Association, referencing England’s win over New Zealand at Lord’s.

“There will be no backward steps under Ben and that’s the way I like to play too. Hopefully it’s the start of a successful Test summer for the guys and, hopefully, I’ll be back around the group.

“My main focus is to get back to the Test match set-up, but I’m taking it a week at a time and making sure I don’t look too far ahead.”

England won the first test of the two match test series against New Zealand after defeating them by 5 wickets. The second test of the series will played on June 10 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

After the 2-match series with New Zealand, English side will play a 3-match ODI series with Netherlands and will face India in July for a one-off test, 3-T20Is and 3 ODIs.
