Indian star cricketer Hardik Pandya is impressed with the management of the skipper Rohit Sharma and Head coach Rahul Dravid. Pandya states that Rohit gives you a lot of flexibility and freedom which is his strength. According to the all-rounder, the hitman wants the team to step away from what it has been doing for the past five-six years and do what the players feel is right.
Hardik also said he needed to take some time off from bowling during his post-injury phase and he is now confident in contributing as a third pacer in the bowling department.
On Tuesday the Indian side chased down a total of 165 runs against the tough West Indies side in the third T20I. This is the first time that a team has successfully chased down 150 plus runs in St. Kitts cricket ground. Surya Kumar Yadav played a key role in the victory and Hardik says that “he is an exceptional player. When he starts playing some of the shots which he plays, you just go awe.”
After the third T20I Pandya revealed, “A lot of credit goes to Skipper Rohit and Head coach Rahul Dravid the way they have got the team together and making sure a lot of positive mindset comes in and the players are feeling secure, they are not looking over their shoulder, making sure they are getting ample chances, they are not playing, and that is commendable.”
We had a game plan about how to carry the innings forward as it was a slow pitch and whether to follow the same aggressive style of play, “he gave us the freedom, saying that you know what, forget about the results, we are trying something new, where we are going to make some mistakes but we will learn from those mistakes.
Both KL Rahul and Hardik have been dealing with injuries from the start of the 2022 season but recovered back to full fitness after a long recovery period. Pandya took the vice-captain role in the series against South Africa at home, where he performed brilliantly both with his ball and bat. The recent success and performances have now put Pandya in a prime position to become the permanent vice-captain of India in the shortest format of the game.
