Pakistan overtake India in latest ICC men’s ODI Rankings

Pakistan made a big improvement and jumped to fourth spot in the latest ICC men’s ODI rankings released by the ICC.

Team Pakistan, who are currently playing a solid cricket earned this after another series win in the recently completed 3-match ODI series against West Indies at home.

They were at the fifth place before the commencement of West Indies tour of Pakistan but their clean sweep against the visitors helped them jump from 5th to 4th in the ICC men’s ODI rankings.

With this, Pakistan now overtake team India, who last played ODI series against West Indies at home in February. However, with the 3-0 win over the Pooran’s side Pakistan (106) collected one more points than India (105) in rankings

Interestingly, the Babar Azam-led side have had the third-best W/L ratio in the format (2.2) since the 2019 World Cup, only behind New Zealand (9.0) and Scotland (2.3).

In the last couple of years Pakistan have only lost a series against England, apart from that they have good outings in the one-day internationals.

They have beaten the mighty Australia 2-1 in the home ODI series, the first series between the two giants of world cricket in Pakistan since 1988.

The skipper Babar Azam has seen leading from the front. Notably, he recently became the first batter to score three consecutive ODI tons twice, having previously achieved the feat in 2016 as well, and also reached the milestone of scoring 9 consecutive half-centuries in international cricket.

Pakistan are next scheduled to play a three-match ODI series in the Netherlands, starting on August 16 this year in Hazelaarweg.

While team India will play their next ODI series against England in England starting from July 12.

Team India right now busy playing the 5-match T20 series against the South Africa at home, after that they will fly to England to play a one-off test, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is.
