The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 has Rohan Patil As The First Player To Record a Century

Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, The First Player To Record a Century: The first edition of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 is being played at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar Ground in Mysore, and on August 12th, 2022, 20-year-old Rohan Patil of Karnataka became the first player to score a brilliant century there. Will Smeed, who played in England’s most-watched T20 tournament The Hundred at Edgbaston, became the first player to do

His brilliant performance on Thursday enabled the Gulbarga Mystics to defeat the Mysore Warriors, a local club captained by Indian cricketer Karun Nair, by a whopping 9 wickets. Karun Nair’s team needed 19 overs to reach a score of 160/4.

Rohan, who batted first for the Gulbarga Mystics, was cool and collected throughout his innings, taking just 15 deliveries to complete his half-century and just 42 to get his century. Eleven fours and seven overs of the boundary were part of his undefeated 112-run innings.

“I really loved my innings yesterday, and after a while, it seemed like the fans began to support us rather than the other squad. It feels amazing to be the first player to get a century in the Maharaja Trophy; this is a terrific chance for young players like myself, said the Bengaluru-based player for Sir Syed Cricketers, a first-division side.

Rohan’s involvement in sports began because his father, Anand Patil, was a KSCA-empanelled umpire. “Yes, of course, my father’s involvement in the game as an umpire is how I got into cricket, but I think I was always drawn to the game as a kid, and having closely observed a lot of players don the India colors from Karnataka, I was inspired to take up the sport in all seriousness,” continued Patil.

While he hopes to catch the eye of franchises in the massive IPL with spectacular performances in the Maharaja Trophy, he claims it is too soon to begin fantasizing about playing in the league. “I am aware that good show here could help me draw the attention of IPL franchises, and surely if given a chance I will aim to play my best. But for now, I am only focused on playing good innings for my team Gulbarga Mystics and help the team play in the final of Maharaja Trophy,” Rohan asserted.

Mysore Warriors captain Karun Nair had played a daring 91-run innings on Wednesday, only one day earlier, but he fell short of the century mark as his team successfully pursued the Hubli Tigers’ 141-run goal.

The Bengaluru leg of the tournament begins next week at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, and there have already been some significant scores in the competition. Rohan’s century may only be the beginning of even more significant innings.
