Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, will host South Africa for a three-match T20I series as part of their preparations for the ICC World T20.

The 2021 World Cup champions Australia were defeated by India in the series finale on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium thanks largely to the heroic performance of former Indian captain Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.

Recent Success

Given his recent success leading up to the T20 World Cup 2022, Kohli will be raring to lead the batting assault for the Rohit-led team in the South Africa series.

In the shortest version of the game, Rohit, Kohli’s colleague, and Indian captain scored the most runs for India against the Proteas. Whereas the seasoned Indian opener has 362 runs in 13 matches vs South Africa.

Three World Records to achieve

Highest run-scoring player against South Africa in T20Is:

Indian batsman Suresh Raina has scored 339 runs in T20Is, making him the second-highest scorer against South Africa. With 254 runs in 10 games, batting legend Virat Kohli is third on the elite list. Kohli is 108 runs behind Rohit.

The highest number of half-centuries vs South Africa:

In the shortest version of the game, Kohli has amassed the most half-centuries. Virat Kohli has struck 33 half-centuries in his prestigious career.

Against the Proteas, the former Indian captain scored two half-centuries. The best batter in the world may break the record for most half-centuries against South Africa in T20 Internationals if Kohli manages to get fifty in the forthcoming series.

Leading run-scorer in T20I history:

Run-machine recently, Kohli passed Virat Kohli as India’s second-leading scorer in international cricket. The all-time leading scorer in Twenty20 cricket is the former Indian captain.

However, Specifically, the 33-year-old has tallied 10,978 runs in the shortest format. Kohli needs only 22 runs to surpass 11,000 runs in T20 cricket for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Although, Kohli is now the second-most runs scorer in T20 international cricket history. Whereas he needs to pass Rohit and overtake him as the T20I cricket run leader, the former Indian captain only needs to score 34 runs in the first T20I match against South Africa so it brings out better results.
