As the England Women’s Test squad enters a new era, Katherine Brunt is a ‘big loss’

Katherine Brunt will be a “big loss” for England, according to head coach Lisa Keightley, who is planning how to put together a Test assault without the seamer and her long-time new-ball partner Anya Shrubsole. Here in this article, we talk about Katherine Brunt Big Loss for England after her retirement.

Brunt, 36, declared her retirement from the longest format to focus on white-ball cricket, while Shrubsole, 30, retired from all forms of international cricket in April.

As a consequence, England‘s speed attack will have a new lease on life when they face South Africa in Taunton from June 27 to 30.

Brunt and Shrubsole’s exits, according to Keightley, were “amazing.” “They’ve been having the ball and doing what they do for over ten years. They’ve had ups and downs in terms of performance, but they’ve been quite constant overall.

“With them, you know exactly what you’re going to get. We have no idea what the others will offer us, but that is thrilling and opens up new possibilities.

“It’s the end of an era, and we need to usher in a new one, so let’s see who will put their hand up and take the ball first. Let’s watch how things proceed now that our hands have been forced.”

“Katherine’s absence from Test cricket will be felt greatly. There are times throughout games when she rallies the squad behind her, and those moments, as well as her passion and fire, will be difficult to replace.

“I’m not sure if we have anyone else on the squad that has her passion, competitive edge, and ruthlessness. We’ll see whether there’s another one waiting in the wings with the same white-line fever.

Brunt, who took 51 wickets in 14 Tests, says she was “heartbroken” to leave the red-ball arena, but that the choice will let her to focus entirely on short-form cricket.

Brunt’s current focus, according to Keightley, is on the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this summer, which will include a women’s T20 competition for the first time.

“[Brunt’s retirement from Test cricket] came as no surprise to me. Her top priority is the Commonwealth Games. She wants to compete in that competition and be in top shape, fit and healthy enough to do so “Keightley stated.
