Royal Challengers Bangalore’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is likely to miss the opening few matches of the Indian Premier League, which commence on Friday in Ahmedabad. Let us look into details on Glenn Maxwell and Josh Hazlewood IPL 2023 Updates.
Hazlewood is nevertheless optimistic about participating in the T20 tournament’s later rounds, as per the cricket.com.au. The 32-year-old is presently recovering from an Achilles issue that prevented him from competing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India.
Before deciding whether or not to compete in the IPL, Hazlewood will speak with Cricket Australia’s medical personnel, according to the report.

Glenn Maxwell’s Injury
Another significant development is the all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s doubtfulness for RCB’s opening match against Mumbai Indians on April 2 in Bengaluru because he has not fully recovered from a knee injury. Maxwell missed Australia’s final two one-day internationals against India earlier this month.
Maxwell broke his leg in a freak mishap in November, and according to Australia’s national selector George Bailey, he found the transition back to ODIs to be easy. “more demanding than he had expected”.
Over the past two home Test summers, he has missed games due to side strains. In January, he was bowling on wet run-ups at the SCG Test against South Africa when he developed an Achilles issue. Hazlewood was expected to lead RCB’s bowling attack after being selected by them for INR 7.75 crore at the mega auction in 2022, but he is still in Australia after being sent back during the Border-Gavaskar Test series. He won’t play any part in the IPL until he has spoken with Cricket Australia’s medical team.
Despite his continued desire to participate in the IPL, Hazlewood emphasises that Test cricket continues to be his top priority.
“As fun as T20 is and as lucrative as it is, I find it still plays second fiddle to Test cricket,” Hazlewood said in February while in Bengaluru. “This series, Ashes series, home summers are what you play cricket for. I don’t think that will ever change. It’s probably about short-term loss versus long-term gain a lot of the time. You’ve got a T20 World Cup or an IPL or a one-day series, it’s about still ticking those boxes off the field to be ready to go for a Test series.”
Hazlewood is still out for the time being, but Glenn Maxwell, who has only featured in the first ODI against India, is questionable for the first match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) as he recovers from a leg injury.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, who is yet to claim an IPL title will start their IPL 2023 campaign against Mumbai Indians M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, April 2.
