RR vs DC Live Match Updates: Marsh, Warner Help Delhi Capitals Retain Playoffs Hopes; DC defeats RR by 8 wickets

RR vs DC Live Match Update:

The desire to reach playoffs is seemingly high among the players of Delhi Capitals as the team was successful in defeating Rajasthan Royals in the 58th match of IPL on Wednesday. Here in this article, we talk about RR vs DC Live Match Update, Who wins the match, The Player of the match, and much more…

After winning the toss, the decision to opt for bowling first has proven to be right for the skipper, Rishabh Pant. The loss of hard-hitting batsman, Jos Buttler, at an early stage proved burdensome for RR while scoring some good runs at the initial stage.

However, R Ashwin’s emphatic performance as a batsman where he added a half-century to his scorecard made the pink army stabilize the game and continue its attack against the opposite team.

Without leaving any stone unturned, the bowlers of the Delhi Capitals showed good performance by launching pressure tactics with a tight bowling strategy executed at the right time.

According to the projected score, the RR team had a probability of adding more than 20-30 runs to the scoreboard. However, the bowlers, Chetan Sakariya, Anrich Nortje, Mitchell Marsh, and Shardul Thakur were successful in confining the Royals to 160.

The primary reason for DC’s win is due to Marsh’s all-rounder performance. In the first innings, he plucked two important wickets, besides showing great strength in his batting as well in the second innings. He scored 89 runs off 62 balls.

The Capitals lost Srikar Bharat before it opened its account. However, this development didn’t show any impact on the batting line-up. David Warner, who came in the first down, made his team reach a stable stage.

He started adding runs to the scoreboard, besides supporting Marsh in executing his attacking performance against Royals’ bowlers. Marsh returned to the pavilion after building a partnership of 144 runs with Warner. He was dismissed in the 18th over by Yuzvendra Chahal, however, it didn’t stop the Pant-led team from reaching the target.

The Delhi batsmen were able to successfully chase down the score with eight wickets in hand and one moreover remaining.

Speaking during the post-match presentation, RR skipper Sanju Samson expressed the night to be very disappointing.

“Few runs short and a few wickets short in the middle. While we were batting it was definitely a two-paced wicket but I feel we were 15-20 short. While bowling, a bit of luck here and there, a few catches dropped, and the bails not falling off didn’t help. Disappointed tonight but we’ll come back strongly,” he said.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant termed the match to be very close to the perfect game. “(Because) I always believe there is room for improvement in each and every game,” he said.

Sharing his view about the toss, he further said when you know the wicket is going to turn a little bit, there is an opportunity to bowl or bat first.

“I felt from a team point of view that we could bowl first. At the toss, I said anything around 140-160 would be a good total for us and we got to 160, so we’re quite happy with that,” he said, adding that Shaw got typhoid and the team is missing him.

Player of the Match:

Mitchell Marsh (Delhi Capitals): 2/25 & 89 (62).
