The Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) is attempting to gather donations for his medical expenses in the hopes of helping the former cricket in recovering as soon as possible.

Indian wicketkeeper Vijay Yadav is fighting kidney failure. ICA is trying to raise funds for the treatment.

Yadav, 55, has had two heart strokes and is on hemodialysis due to renal failure. Yadav appeared in one Test match and 19 One Day Internationals, the last of which was against the West Indies in 1994. The former India international was a vital player in Haryana’s Ranji Trophy-winning team in 1991. Yadav, due to his amazing performances in domestic games, managed to get into the team in the early 90s.

Vijay Yadav was in a car accident a few years back, in 2006. In that accident, he lost 2 of his family members, including his 11-years old daughter, and almost avoided death. Since the accident, the Yadav has faced multiple health issues including two cardiac arrests.

Complete kidney failure can also lead to a buildup of fluid in the lungs, which can cause shortness of breath, chest pain, and much more. When a person’s kidneys fail, dialysis removes waste and prevents it from building inside the body. If taken a person is removed from the dialysis, it can lead to severe consequences.

Vijay has had a prolific career in cricket as the wicket-keeper and lower-order batsman. He played for Haryana and represented them in 89 first-class matches in his career. He had scored 3988 runs at an average of 36.25, 7 centuries, and 23 fifties. Yadav made his ODI debut in a game at Bloemfontein despite merely traveling as an understudy to the seasoned Kiran More.
