IND W vs ENG W: Harmanpreet Aware Of India’s Major Weakness

IND W vs ENG W: Before the beginning of the important white-ball series against England, team India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur opened up about the weakness of the team and assured us that they are working on it.

The Indian women’s cricket team is in England for a two-week white-ball tour and will play three T20Is and as many ODIs, starting September 10.

It will be the first series for the Indian Women’s cricket team after returning from Commonwealth Games with a silver medal.

However, before the start of the series, captain Harmanpreet discussed the area they need to improve on for better results as India has struggled to win close games over the past few years. The most recent example of this was the gold medal match against Australia in CWG 2022, where the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team experienced a significant batting collapse.

In a 163-run chase, the team was at 118/2 when it was eventually bowled out for 152, missing out on the coveted gold medal.

“We are working on that. I know for a long time these things have been troubling us. We need to show some patience and after a while, we will start getting the results also,” Harmanpreet said.

“That is why this time we have added two more batters Dayalan Hemalatha and KP Navgire in the side who can finish the game for us. They have done really well in domestic cricket, scored good amount of runs. We need to have balance in our side in the lower order, when there is balance things become easier,” she added.

The 33-year-old also discussed the Indian team’s planned batting strategy in order to achieve better outcomes in subsequent games.

“We need to be a bit flexible when it comes to batting because sometimes you had to see who is bowling and whose performance is better against her and who can get those runs for us. Batting wise we will be very flexible. We will take calls according to match situations,” explained the right-handed batter.

The T20Is will be played in Chester-Le-Street on September 10, followed by second in Derby on Sep 13, and the final one on Sep 15 in Bristol. Hove, Canterbury, and London will host the three One Day Internationals from September 18 to 24.
