IND vs SL 1st ODI: India off to a blistering start in the first ODI versus Sri Lanka, thanks to Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill exploits in Guwahati.

After losing both the openers Virat Kohli took the center stage and smashed a brilliant century to help India post 373 on board in 50 overs.

Rohit Sharma (83) and Shubman Gill (70) provided India a stage to score and Virat took it carry forward with his brilliant century.

Virat Kohli 73rd hundred international century

It was Virat Kohli’s 73rd ODI ton, and now he is 27 centuries behind the legend Sachin Tendulkar to hit 100 centuries in international cricket.

Earlier, when India witnessing a mid-innings crises, Kohli vanished the boundary drought with a six and also completed his fifty.

India managed to cross the 200-run mark in 27 overs thanks to Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer steady partnership after skipper Rohit Sharma gone for 83 off 67.

Wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul played a knock of 39 off 29. While Pandya got out after scoring 14 off 12.

Things were looking in control for the Indian side when Dhananjaya de Silva removed the well-set Shreyas Iyer for 28.

Earlier, India has crossed the 100-run mark in just 14.5 overs, without losing any wicket. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma completed his 47th ODI fifty in just 41 balls.

Kasun Rajitha bagged the maximum number of wickets for his side, but gave 88 runs too for picking up 3 wickets in 10 overs.

After starting the New Year with 2-1 win over Sri Lanka in the T20 series, team India now playing Sri Lanka in a three-match One-Day International series.

The series is the first step in Team India’s journey to the upcoming 2023 ICC men’s 50-over World Cup (January 10). Veteran Indian players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play in the contest after missing the three-match T20I series that India won 2-1 on Saturday.
